During this time of physical distancing due to COVID-19, I am offering live conversations through Zoom as a way for us to connect to each other, and to our values, as we navigate uncertain times. These virtual gatherings provide an opportunity to re-orient yourself each week to the people and things you care about. The video on this page explains a bit more about what happens during these calls, the kinds of people who tend to participate, and why I think they are so magical. :)

The conversations are free, but pre-registration is required, which you can do below. Come as you are, wherever your head or heart might be in the moment. Whether you attend every week, or just drop in once, I will be happy to see you!

  • Friday, June 5 from 12-1pm EDT
    Topic: Gratitude vs. Praise
Marshall Rosenberg, the creator of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), recognized that it can be very damaging to praise and compliment people with positive judgments (e.g. You're amazing, That was excellent). Instead, he taught a way for people to express meaningful gratitude to each other. Prior to our conversation, listen to this 7-minute audiobook segment, and reflect: How do you tend to express your positive sentiments toward others? What does it feel like to extend praise versus gratitude? What is the impact of each on your relationships? As the receiver, which do you prefer?

What participants have to say

Anne’s expert moderation creates a safe and affirming space that allows each person to participate and share as much as they feel comfortable doing.  She is skilled at reflecting back the essence of what people say and finding the good in their experience; she accepts each of us where we are; she guides the conversation with a gentle, light touch.  As a result of the positive culture that Anne nurtures, we’re all generally pretty good at listening to and acknowledging each other with open hearts, at managing the turn-taking, at learning from each other and the experiences and ideas we share. This meaningful time in the company of kind and compassionate fellow travelers is worth a lot.
